Winter Information

Maplewood Resort provides excellent accommodates for snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and ice fishermen.

 Several lodging choices are available to fit the needs of couples looking for a cozy cabin to large groups looking for a spacious home. Each of our deluxe lakeside vacation homes with fireplaces offers direct access to the snowmobile trail. You can park your vehicle and snowmobile right from your doorstep onto the hundreds of miles of some of the best groomed, well marked trails in the nation’s Snowbelt. We are centrally located near the intersection of the St Germain/ Bo-Boen, Sugar Camp, and Eagle River trail systems on Dam Lake making this an ideal headquarters for your next snowmobile trip. Over the past decade SNOWGOER MAGAZINE readers have ranked the area as the “Best overall snowmobiling destination”.

There are several reputable snowmobile rental agents in the area to help outfit you with everything you may need form the snowmobile all the way down to the helmet and boots. If desired, arrangements can be made to have a rental sled dropped off right at your vacation home. Guided tours are also available.


For those who enjoy taking several trips up north for the winter, you may want to consider our long term winter rental options. Homes can be rented for a three or four month period. Leave all your gear, come and go as often as you like.

There are also over 25 x-country ski trails within our immediate area. Downhill skiing is about an hours drive away. Snowshoeing and ice fishing are also popular pastimes.

We have a heated portable ice fishing shanty and gas ice auger available for our guests to use at no additional charge.

The area receives abundant snowfall and trails typically open Mid December and remain open through March. We can’t control Mother Nature, and we want you to fully enjoy your time in the Northwood’s. So we have put in place a snow credit policy. If the trails are closed due to lack of snow and you choose not to come your entire deposit will be credited to a future reservation with us. We will honor your credit for one year.
Snow credits do not apply to Christmas, New Years, or Derby week.

                               
Don't forget to check out Eagle River's legendary Ice Castle scheduled to be erected each year (weather permitting), between Dec. 25 and Jan 1.  For over sixty-years, this every-year-original-and-different ice castle has thrilled untold thousands of visitors to Eagle River.  2500 ice blocks from Silver Lake in Eagle River are cut and hauled to the building site, where volunteers design, carve and fashion this exquisite work of art.  Backlit at night for extraordinary beauty.  Located along major snowmobile trail that goes through Eagle River, for picture-taking fun. http://www.eagleriver.org/icecastle.asp

                What's Included:

• Bed linens are furnished at no additional cost.

• Firewood is furninshed at no additional cost.

• Bath towels are NOT provided.

• Each unit has a fireplace, phone, color TV, VCR/DVD player, and full kitchen including microwave oven. Some cabins also have whirlpool tub, dishwasher, washer and dryer, satellite TV.
   

Reservations & Cancellations

RESERVATIONS - A non-refundable $500 deposit for weekly reservations or equal to one night rent for daily reservations is required at the time the reservation is placed. Please be certain of cabin choice and dates when placing your reservation as deposits are only valid for the cabin and dates chosen. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover or personal checks for deposits. A credit card authorization is required at the time of check-in. In the event damage is done to resort property, your particular rental unit, or if extra cleaning is required, we reserve the right to charge your account accordingly.

CANCELLATIONS - If you must cancel or change your reservation a $100 service charge will be deducted from your deposit. If you cancel and we are able to fill the vacancy, the remaining balance of the deposit will be applied to another reservation with us. We will honor your credit for up to one year. If we are unable to fill the vacancy there will be no credit given.

SNOW CREDIT - Cancellations due to lack of snow (trails must be closed) we will credit your entire deposit towards a future reservation. Snow credit is NOT available during Derby,  Christmas or New Years week.

FINAL PAYMENT- Due upon arrival. We appreciate final payments made by check or cash. For those paying by credit card we accept VISA MasterCard, and Discover.

Check-in time is 2:00 pm and check-out by 10:00 am
